Opportunities you may overlook when conducting an SEO campaign. Continue reading →

One of the very first activities to conduct at the beginning of any SEO campaign is to determine which keyphrases to target. It is no surprise that search volume is the main factor when deciding which phrases to focus your SEO campaign on. Often search volume is the only factor that is taken into account. However, there is one factor that many forget…

As competition for the top positions for high volume keyphrases continues to grow, the investment required to reap the benefits of the top Google positions will continue to rise. However, there is a way to avoid this high competition and the high costs associated with claiming those top positions.

The answer comes with long tail keyphrases. Targeting longer keyphrases can have added benefit over targeting single or double word keyphrases. Finding low competition keyphrases and securing high rankings can ultimately generate revenue for your website in less time and with less effort than investing large amounts of time and money for the most competitive keyphrases.

It has been reported that search queries are getting longer. This developing trend could be read in two ways. Either search engine users are becoming frustrated with the lack of relevant results they are receiving from one or two word searches, or users are becoming more sophisticated with their search queries. Either way, there are significant levels of search volume for long tail keyphrases out there waiting to be captured.

Due the very nature of long tail keyphrases they relate to more specific topics, products or services. Consequently such keyphrases receive fewer searches. However, competition for the top ranking positions in the search engines is far weaker for longer keyphrases than their more generic, shorter counterparts. In making the decision to target a specific long tail keyword that is relevant for your business/ website you are increasing your chance of first page ranking success before you have even begun. Whilst a top ranking position for a long tail keyphrase will not bring the same level of traffic as a general keyphrase, the traffic you do receive will be more targeted and consequently may be more likely to result in a sale.

With less competition for top ranking positions, along with the potential to secure higher conversion rates from long tail keyphrase traffic, in ignoring the long tail you could well be ignoring a significant opportunity.

As my first contribution to the Bloom Media blog I thought it would be fitting to begin by sharing my first experience in Search Engine Marketing. When browsing the Internet in an ongoing effort to find out how to make money online I came across this guy called Ed Dale and the Thirty Day Challenge. After watching a couple of videos of this down to earth Aussie bloke and the promise of being led through a free Internet Marketing challenge over the space of (you guessed it!) 30 days I was hooked and have loved anything to do with SEM since. Read on to find out about the latest gem introduced throught the Thirty Day Challenge that could well overhaul the way Search Engine Marketing is conducted from now on.

This was back in 2006 and every year since in August Ed Dale and his team have continued to put on the completely free Thirty Day Challenge. In 2007 they highlighted a new micro-blogging network called Twitter and insisted that it would become crucial for marketing purposes in the coming years. I think even they were surprised by how accurate their foresight was. This just being one of the valuable free tips I have received from them over the years when they introduced Market Samurai I was all ears.

You will not find a more enthusiastic believer in the importance of keyword research for a successful Search Engine Optimisation campaign and when the Market Samurai team said their software would save time and help find the best keywords in any given market I couldn’t wait to find out more.

The ability to filter keywords by the amount of daily visits each keyword receives has proved to be a great time saver but I have found that the real value in the keyword research element of their software is the ability to filter keyword by SEO competition. The most cost-effective SEO campaigns are those in which target keyphrases have high levels of organic traffic with little SEO competition and Market Samurai was built exactly with this aim in mind. Designed for individuals to dominate micro-niches the principles and tools in Market Samurai to highlight the best keyphrases, carry out a real time analysis of the first page SEO competition for any given keyword can be utilised for any SEO campaign to save time and produce results.

With a rank tracker, content finder, promotion and monetisation modules in addition to their powerful keyword research and SEO competition tools Market Samurai could well prove to be the best Internet Marketing software available today. With ever growing SEO competition the need to become more intelligent with keyphrase targeting and Search Engine Marketing as a whole is becoming more of a necessity. Those who succeed in targeting the best keywords are sure to continue to reap the benefits that organic traffic brings and Market Samurai may be the most efficient and cost-effective means to achieve this end.

If you have come across Ed Dale and the Thirty Day challenge and/ or have tested the Market Samurai software, we would love to hear from you.

Bloom Media helped launch a corporate blog for client Anglian Home Improvements in April 2009. Realising that companies are becoming web savvier and socialising more on the internet, Bloom Media have made an attempt to tap Anglian’s potential to get closer to their customers through their blog.

The blog http://blog.anglianhome.co.uk/ is aimed towards giving everyone a behind the scenes insight into Anglian’s world, its employees and its culture. It will serve as a platform for exchanging information, comments and feedback between customers and the company, and will provide updated company news and information on the various charity and community events that Anglian participate in. There will also be a focus on the double glazing industry as a whole, and developments within. Readers will be encouraged to participate actively in online discussions by posing questions, comments and responses through the blog. The blog intends to show the fun side of working with Anglian but also convey its seriousness in promoting Anglian Home’s image as a customer friendly company that gives priority to feedback and answering comments from customers.

Since its launch in April, there have been numerous interesting posts on various categories such as updates on the marketing side of the business, a historical perspective of windows in its product development section and the company’s recent donation of a conservatory to a local charity in Norwich. This can be found in the Charity and Community section.

The launch of the Anglian Home Improvements blog is a positive step towards bridging the gap between business and customer and is a prime example of how the ever-evolving internet community can be used to benefit both customers and businesses. Customers now have the chance to get answers to questions and have access to advice from both past and present customers, whilst businesses have the opportunity to provide exemplary customer service with fast and thoughtful responses to any queries that arise.
