Media B..Locks! …. C’mon England!!

‘Our media’ are going to cost us hosting the 2018 World Cup and are about to cost us potentially winning the 2010 WC! Poor Robert Green didnt have a chance after Tyldsdales blunder as the ITV commentator; yet Green has the media dump on him …. whilst he, the commentator and cause, gets away scot-free!?
With a full 10 minutes to halftime (!!) Tyldlsley outrageously produces a mega-gaff by stating that Capellos half-time team talk will now be more positive for a change with England going into the dressing room winning 1-0 …. a commentators curse.
He probably has never kicked a football (or hit a ping-pong ball!) in his life but as a so-called professional sports commentator he should at least know how to talk about it and also know of the syndrom of the ‘commentators curse’. A couple of minutes after that comment what happens … Greens blunder … but as I say; he had no chance.
So instead of dumping on him and Capello and the rest of the team why dont they stand up and ‘support’ them and stop the whinging?!
PS: I am Welsh but even I want England to win!
C’mon lads …. just do it!

    Gutted!

They had a crazy discussion about this on Radio 4 this morning with a cricketer and random non-sports journalist who form part of the ‘sports pundit panel’ apparently. They were quite forgiving though – the question is was it a sign of things to come or just one of those really embarrassing one offs?

    Well said Brian!

Clive Tyldesley is the worst commentator ever, just count the number of times he mentions ‘Manchester United’ and ‘That famous night in Barcelona’.

ITV should not be allowed to broadcast sport at all, they’re incompetent!

I was actually quite interested by the swearing contained within this post’s title. I was wondering what you as a social media company would say is the right judgement to take with personal opinions and language such as this on your company blog?

We have always taken the professional, rather than personal tone with ours, and would certainly shy away from using swear words and bad grammar. However, I do sometimes wonder if this takes away the personality of our staff who do speak like that.

Do you think that being too formal and stuffy is going to put people off reading a blog?

What was your editorial decision behind publishing this article?

Ahh Sonny …. I think you must have missed the point … my apologies for any confusion ….

I am Welsh and there is a spin here with the term Big Locks; which has negative connotations to verbal gaffs … hence the two capitals in place for B and L … That said … given the nature of the pratt and his gaff I’m happy for your interpretation!!!

PS: Wish there was a ‘smilie’ with a tongue in cheek! ….

PPS: I will be watching the game tonight with the soind off!!
