Changes to Search, Changes to Google – Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Chaaanges!

That’s right, I was out of the office for most of the week  so I missed all the excitement!

I’ve been keeping an eye on Wolfram Alpha for a while and wondering what The Big G was doing behind closed doors – yesterday the curtain was drawn aside and all revealed.

Google announced a number of changes to the search;

Google Search Options – a cheeky extra list of parameters to further cut down/re-organise your search results.

Wonder Wheel – a crazy looking tool that gives you a visual representation of subjects/searches related to the keyphrase you searched for.

Google Squared – taking on Wolfram Alpha head on Google Squared attempts to go a step further than just providing search listings and provide actual information. It’s like what Jeeves dreams about doing but can’t.

for more info see Matt Cutts’ post.

Rand has done an excellent summary of the changes over on the Moz but it looks pretty exciting!

The question is, will it mean a change to the way we search? And will that mean a change for SEO?
