Bloom given a Goal-den chance to score at PR awards ceremony
It’s true that a few of us at Bloom enjoy a good kick-around, so we were pretty excited to hear that our PR and social media work with Goal – the world’s most popular football website – has been nominated in two categories at PRmoment.com’s Golden Hedgehog awards!
Our fantastic Goal 50 campaign has been nominated for both the Social Media Campaign of the Year and the Integrated Communications Campaign of the Year. So if you can excuse the football analogy for a moment, it’s a bit like having a shot at the league title and the FA Cup!
The fact that we’re competing on two fronts is down to hard graft of our talented Bloomers, whose integrated approach to generating ROI for Goal has been recognised by the industry experts over at PRmoment.com.
And when you have a client as great as Goal, well, it makes anything possible.
Our brief was simple: to boost Goal’s search activity by producing an integrated creative campaign that would get the world talking about Goal 50 – Goal’s annual list of the world’s top football players.
Knowing that all football fans love a healthy debate, we created a Facebook-powered app that allowed them to select their own Top 10 team and then share it online. This, of course, went live as soon as the media got hold of the much anticipated Goal 50 list.
We were also creative in the use of Whisper, our very own social media service, which identified key influencers in both the press and football supporting community that helped us seed the story and the app. This created a huge amount of interaction and engagement between the public, generating lots of activity and excellent results during August – which is typically one of Goal’s quietest months.
The Golden Hedgehog awards (apart from being the world’s spikiest communications awards) celebrate excellence and recognise and reward outstanding campaigns and exceptional talent in the PR and Communications industry.
We’re fairly sure that a golden hedgehog won’t be revealing the results, but you never know… Regardless, we’re looking forward to the ceremony on Thursday 13th March at the Radisson Blu Edwardian in Manchester and, like some of the best footballers in the world, we’re being superstitious and keeping everything crossed in the meantime!
