What’s new in Panda 4.2 and how will it affect you?

Google have begun rolling out an update to their Panda Algorithm, which is focused on down-weighting sites with poor, thin, low quality content. So what should you be doing to make sure you’re not affected by it?

The update has been officially named 4.2, which sits within their sequential algorithm updates, although they have said this update could take months to fully roll out. It means that sites might not see or feel any immediate impact – so keeping a constant eye on performance is the key here.

As we stated for the Panda 4.0 update, we’ve provided lots of useful tips and advice to make sure Panda doesn’t affect your site – and if it does, what you need to do to improve.

It’s important to note that if your site was hit by a previous Panda update, and you’ve made improvements, then this is an opportunity for you to actually increase your site’s visibility in search results (as any Panda algorithm penalty could be lifted).

As ever, it’s vital to ensure you provide natural, unique, high quality and relevant content for your audience. It should add value to their experience, and appear prominent within the page structure – not buried at the foot of the page (where it’s aimed only at search engines and not users).
