Bloom teams up with Leeds Digital for festival fun!
If you were to peek into homes across our wonderful city on Sunday night, you would find a population of digital enthusiasts who are behaving like children on Christmas Eve; unable to sleep, restless and unusually excited about Monday morning. Why?! Well, because for folk such as these, Leeds Digital Festival is better than Christmas. Spanning two weeks (from October 1st-14th), the 2012 festival kicks off on Monday and culminates in a day-long conference .The whole festival promises to be a wonderful celebration of the digital industry in Leeds. From web to SEO, social media to marketing, branding to a Leeds Digital Festival film club, there really is something for everyone.
Bloom is no stranger to the festival, having supported it in various guises for the past four years. And this year we’re proud to announce that we’re organising two events of our own.
Next Wednesday (October 3rd), we’re hosting the Leeds Digital Festival Film Club. It’s going to be a bit like Breakfast Club, but better. We’ll be showing Indie Game Movie in our offices and we promise there’ll be popcorn and a host of enthusiastic digital bods to chat to after the showing. And if films aren’t your thing, but Big Data is, on Thursday 11th October we’ll be Embracing Data at the Cross Keys pub. Over the course of the evening, Leeds agencies will come together to discuss how insight from big data is impacting the marketing landscape. Peter Laflin, our brilliant Head of Insight, will be explaining how we’re working in collaboration with the Universities of Reading and Strathclyde to use insight from Big Data to help clients see what’s now and what’s next. Following on from a successful talk at LonData, Peter will also discuss how Bloom is using social data to help clients understand how conversations evolve in real time over the web, and reveal how an academic paper blew open a spam minefield. Peter will also be speaking about Big Data on Friday 12th October at Leeds Digital Conference. The conference is set to be a real highlight of the festival, celebrating the best of digital in the city and showcasing what digital could mean to Leeds in years to come. Featuring a mixture of seminars from cutting-edge Leeds agencies, independent digital professionals and some of the nation’s most well-known brands, we’re really excited to be taking part! What’s more, true to the collaborative nature that Leeds Digital Festival has harnessed since its beginning, the identity and website for the conference was created by our very own junior designer Joel Mercer, assisted and mentored by a few of our senior creatives and designers.
