We only went and ran a marathon!

After weeks of intensive training the time finally came on Sunday for eleven eager members of the Bloom Running Club to take on the Yorkshire Marathon Corporate Relay. Running on behalf of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association we’re aiming to smash our target of £6,400. Fancy helping us?

After a short taxi ride, copious amounts of coffee and a golden arches breakfast we arrived in York ready for what lay ahead. Registration done and numbers handed out, all that was left was to allow the nerves to build as the first two of our relay runners headed to the start line.

Among the thousands of marathon runners was our Creative Director, Joe Mason, who was preparing to run the full 26.2 miles on his own.

Alongside our Office Manager, Donna Coe, I waited at the halfway point for the baton to be handed over (check out our branded batons!) to take our turn. Despite a cold start the weather had warmed up and soon we were off.

In what felt like no time at all we were stood at the finish line waiting for our final leg runners to come through. Although only one of our running batons made it home, I’m very proud to say that all the runners completed their respective legs.

Despite tired legs, the lure of a bacon sandwich had us racing back to the corporate hospitality area where we picked up our goody bag and medals. Then it was time for a quick team photo.

Well done team, you did Bloom proud #runyorkshire #YorkMarathon #determination
